Solar PV
Will solar panels work effectively in the UK?
Yes. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight, not just direct sunshine. Although generation is higher during brighter conditions, modern solar PV systems continue producing energy throughout the year.
How do I know what size solar system I need?
We consider your electricity consumption, available roof space, orientation, shading and future energy requirements before designing a system specifically for your property.
Do I need a south-facing roof? No. While south-facing roofs can provide excellent generation, east- and west-facing roofs can also perform very well. How long will my solar panels last? Modern solar panels are designed to operate for decades, with many manufacturers providing long-term product and performance warranties. Battery Storage Can I add battery storage to my existing solar system? In many cases, yes. We can assess your existing installation and recommend a suitable battery solution based on compatibility, energy consumption and what you want the system to achieve. Can I install a battery without solar panels? Yes. A battery can operate independently of solar PV and can potentially be charged using cheaper off-peak electricity for use when grid electricity is more expensive. What size battery do I need? There isn't one answer for every property. We look at your electricity usage, solar generation, peak demand and future requirements to recommend an appropriately sized system. Can I expand my battery system later? Many modern battery systems are modular and can potentially be expanded as your energy requirements change. This will depend on the equipment and original system design. EV Charging Can you install an EV charger alongside solar and battery storage? Yes. We can design solar, battery and EV charging to work together as part of an integrated home or commercial energy solution. Can I charge my car using excess solar energy? With compatible equipment and the correct system configuration, surplus solar generation can be directed towards charging your electric vehicle. Commercial Solar Do you undertake larger commercial installations? Yes. Our experience extends from residential installations through to large commercial solar projects, including experience working alongside major contractors and public-sector organisations. Can you design a system around our business electricity consumption? Yes. Commercial solar should be designed around the site's actual energy profile. We assess consumption, available installation space and operational requirements to develop an appropriate solution. Maintenance & Existing Systems Can Solarizing look after a system installed by another company? Yes. You don't need to have originally purchased your system from Solarizing. We can provide maintenance, fault investigation and support for suitable existing solar and battery installations. My solar system isn't generating properly. Can you help? Yes. We can investigate issues involving panels, inverters, batteries, electrical components, communications and monitoring to identify potential causes of underperformance. Do solar systems require maintenance? Solar PV generally requires relatively little maintenance, but periodic inspection and performance monitoring can identify faults or deterioration before they significantly affect generation. System Monitoring Why should I monitor my solar system? Monitoring allows you to see how much electricity your system is generating and, depending on the equipment installed, how much you're consuming, storing, importing and exporting. Can you help optimise an existing system? Yes.
